What Happens During The Dog’s Gaze Of Love?

dog's gaze of love

Have you felt it, your dog’s gaze of love? More is being found out about these lovely creatures we call dogs. Not just any dog though, our canine partners in life. It has been discovered that the dog’s brain structure is actually similar to humans. Though less developed, it is able to reason and experience many similar emotions.

One such emotion is the dog’s gaze of love. When they gaze at you, they secrete the “love hormone” as it is called. Oxytocin is a hormone that the brain produces. It is associated with nurturing and attachment. Our levels of Oxytocin go up too as we gaze back at our dog. And the bond between you and your dog strengthens.

Just like humans, dogs have their own personalities, strengths and weaknesses. And some may be able to express their affection more easily than others. So even though some dogs may not gaze at you, no worries, he or she still has other ways he or she shows their love for you. Either way, you are the center of their world.

We are concerned about working to pay the bills, cleaning the house and putting food on the table, but they just enjoy being part of our world no matter what we are doing. They don’t really expect anything in return, but sure enjoy when you feed them and spend time with them.

It has been said that the dog’s gaze of love is like a hug with their eyes. So the next time you notice your dog giving you their gaze of love, be sure to smile at them and gaze right back. Undoubtedly, your dog’s gaze of love will be joined by a wagging tail and probably a wiggling back end.
