The End of Civilization As We Know It

end of civilization

I have been reading more about the threat of the EMP, electromagnetic pulse, and its devastating effects that it can have on our civilization. I read from Homeland Security experts how things are being set up for this potential, yet the current administration is not really addressing the threat even though the cost to do so, relatively speaking, is not that much.

While I was reading this new article on CBN and thinking whether this could soon mean the end of civilization as we know it, my first thought was I should share this for my post today. I first reasoned that because my plan was to write something about heaven, I should not be wasting time on this subject. Yep, get to writing about heaven. Okay … let’s see … Then I had a “duh” moment. It does relate to heaven.

Part of my goal on my personal blog is to offer general encouragement for the Christian’s daily walk, but also to help people understand that heaven should not be feared. Of course we miss the loved ones that pass before us, but for those who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, it is only a temporary separation.

I have to admit that sometimes knowing that the world stage is set for Christ to rapture, I think what’s the point of doing anything. I’ll be out of here soon anyway, right? Then I shake that off and get back to business. We don’t know the exact hour and it still could be awhile, but God’s word does tell us we will likely know when the time is near. 1 Thessalonians 5 tells us that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, but in verse 4, it tells us that we as believers shall not be surprised. Many prominent Christian leaders and authors tell us it could be anytime. Could there still be reasons God will wait longer? Only God knows, right? So, in the meantime, let us be busy about His work.

What Are Your Thoughts On The End Of Civilization?

Time to start tying this into my “duh” moment of why this is relevant to my encouraging post about heaven today. To start though, can you answer these questions for yourself?

If the end of civilization is near, would you just succumb to the chaos of what an EMP attack would likely mean or would you want to at least try to survive it?

I mean if the rapture didn’t come before this attack and you were in the middle of it, would you want to survive?

I thought about this myself and although, you can’t beat heaven for a place to live, would I just let chaos and suffering come upon me and my family without at least trying to help them and even my neighbors?

I mean an EMP attack could effect the whole United States. I was surprised to find out just how easily this could be done. It could bring on a very very dark time for our country on many levels. No electronics, no food, no water, no heat, looting, etc.

Those may be thought provoking questions for a lot of people. Now, of course, we want to help our family and we certainly do not want them to suffer, but if 90% of the population could be wiped out in a very short time and if all our loved ones could be wiped out together??? Well, who knows how it would go down, right? So, because I do believe there are a lot of signs that end of civilization as we know it could be closing in, I decided to start learning how I could be helpful to my family and neighbors in the event this EMP attack happened or potentially other catastrophic events.

The End Of Civilization Or The Beginning Of ……?

If you are interested in learning more, watch this informative video from a Christian survivalist who has helped many people over the years to be prepared for different scenarios. I mean everyone laughed at Noah and denied his warnings. That was until the floods came. No one was laughing then.

EMP

The research shows that this threat is very real. There have been National Geographic and Homeland Security releases. Even Newt Gingrich has been trying to get the Obama administration to put some effort into protecting the American people, but to no avail. We can’t wait for the government. We need to protect ourselves, our families and communities because relying on someone else to do it is a dangerous game.

My final thought though is this. If the end of civilization as we know it is coming upon us soon, let us not fear it. We can do what we can to survive as that is so built into us. If we don’t survive though, it’s not the end of the world. I didn’t intend for that to be a pun. I mean for those believing in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, our last breath on the current earth, means our next breath will be in heaven and that’s not such a bad thought, right? Prepare to be diligent, but trust in the Lord for the rest.
