Do you believe God has a sense of humor?

If you believe God has a sense of humor, do you think He won’t in heaven? Obviously, the world has progressed in a lot of negative and evil ways, but if you look around, you still see the evidence that God has a sense of humor. The easiest place to see it is in the animals.

We are told that no one really knows for sure just how many animals are on this current earth. There are roughly about 10,000 new animal species found each year. It is estimated that there could be 2-50 million currently. That’s hard to even wrap your mind around.

There are about 60,000 amphibians, birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. And a whopping 1+ million of invertebrates, which primarily includes insects. Not sure I am too fond of that idea especially since I just had thousands of woolly aphids in my house.  They had came in while waiting for the dog to do her bedtime potty.

Out of all these creatures, there are so many that demonstrate God’s sense of humor in my opinion. Some are rare that most people don’t even know about unless you just happen to come across a picture or watch a nature show. But even some of the common animals like the giraffe, for example, or the Victorian crowned pigeon. There are countless examples. Now some may be functional, but some I think just put a smile on God’s face and He gets a kick out of our baffled amazement.

What Will God’s Sense Of Humor In Heaven Be Like?

When we go to heaven, will all that be gone? Why would there be such emphasis put on animals and so many too and not have these curious creatures in heaven? I think about what it will be like to actually spend time with a giraffe or a funny looking pigeon with awesome hair. How fun that will be to do that without the fear of being kicked or pecked. Do you think that will put a smile on God’s face when we can enjoy His creation this way?

God loves to give good gifts to His children. It’s like when we give a gift to our son or daughter, aren’t we tickled when our child uses and enjoys that gift. We grin like crazy as we watch our child enjoy it.  How much more our Father in heaven likes for us to enjoy the gifts and goodness we experience in our life. We need to understand that, especially these days when there is so much turmoil.

I love the clip of comedian Ken Davis and it is true. Many of us, my self included sometimes, forget that God wants us to enjoy things in our lives. It makes Him happy when we do so. How much more so when we laugh I suspect.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the negative things of life. I am guilty of that and I’d venture to guess everyone is at one point or another in their life and at varying levels. There is a reason for that passage in the Bible about focusing on the good. Of course, the bad things do need attention, but still if we are able to keep the good in focus, we are better able to keep a healthier perspective.

When you think about whether God has a sense of humor, just think how important laughter can be to our very soul. This is no accident. I believe God has given us things in our environment, but also even with circumstances in our own lives, that show He does have a sense of humor.

I am sure it will be fascinating in heaven to experience God’s sense of humor without the effects of sin that is present on this current earth. Can you share an example in your own life that showed God’s sense of humor?
