What Is Your Journey to Heaven?

Not always roses, right?I walk a path riddled with questions and uncertainty. It can go one way or another at any given moment. We all walk this path. How does one know which turn to take? What path ones foot should tread upon. I may have been there where you were and maybe you where I was. There is joy and there is sorrow. There is hardship and there are easier times.

Our Journey To Heaven Is Not Always Easy

As the world stage progresses though, it seems the path gets overgrown with things that weigh us down and the steps are harder to take. What keeps my feet moving forward? What keeps any of us? Some face such hardship, it is unimaginable at times. This world has gotten to be such a dangerous and stressful place to be. Still, I find with conscious effort, I can grab hold of bits of goodness.

I know where I am going with this, but don’t know what my journey will be to get there. Does it matter? I mean, really? Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter, but as we live this current life, it does. What I mean by that is God’s word tells us that He has wonderful and unique things planned specific to our individual spirits and related to the lives we lived on this current earth we now walk on.

Our Perception Of This Journey To Heaven Can Make All The Difference …

We know that Jesus is the way to this place God is preparing for each of us. So, we do know the way. Each of our journeys along this path though can be so different, but often similar as well. Our perception of this journey can impact the way we live and the joy we can pull out as we walk along.

What is that thing though that keeps us moving forward, the thing that puts it all in perspective? What is it that no matter what happens on our journey or how stressful life on this current earth might be at any given time, we can have peace. We have this reassurance because we know our ultimate home will make it all worth it? It is not really what, but whom.

Jesus tells us that He is the way. As Jesus tries to comfort His disciples when he is explaining He must leave the current earth:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you , I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…” John 14:1-6.

So, we do know the way to eternal life with Christ. Jesus tells us that He is… Click To Tweet

Living with our Savior in safety, peace and laughter would be enough, right? He doesn’t stop there though. He says we will do that in a beautiful place, not touched by sin. It will be a place where you can be ecstatically happy, healthy and be surrounded by those you love. Relationships will be restored and without drama. The beauty and wonders of this earth will be restored when we live on the New Earth.  We will look upon it with fresh and clearer vision as the film of destructiveness will be removed.

God’s word doesn’t tell us everything about heaven or the New Earth that will be our permanent home, but He does share enough that should give us a reassurance that we do not need to fear it. He tells us that He is preparing a place that will have special surprises that will be unique to each of us. We just need to trust in Him along this journey.

The things we face somehow relate and shape the precious gifts he has in store for us when we move on. He tells us that this world will have trouble, but that we are to take heart as He has overcome the world. Said another way, trust in Him, no matter what.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs the all.

2 Corinthians 4:17

Paul writes in Romans,

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Romans 8:18

Will Your Journey To Heaven Be Worth It?

Does knowing Jesus has a plan to make sense of this life make the current earth journey any easier? Well, for me, yes and no. The journey can still be lined with uncertainty and difficulties I wish I, and we, didn’t need to journey through. Yet, knowing Jesus is with me along the way and will deliver me ultimately to a magnificent place beyond what I can even imagine fully on this earth, yes, it does make the journey worth it. I hope you feel that way too.

There are times when really all we can do is just trust in the Lord no matter our journey, good times and not so good. He is faithful and will see us through. We won’t always understand everything, but we are told that we can trust Him. Someday, we will understand. For now, that will have to be enough.
