What Is Our Holy Spirit Connection?

Our Holy Spirit connection was set up by God. He made us to be spiritual like Him. “God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27 NASB).

We are told by Bible scholars that the explanation of the above verse is that we are made with a desire in our spirit to have a relationship with our Creator. Said another way, it means that the human spirit is meant to be connected with God’s Holy Spirit. Some will want this relationship, some will not. We are set up for this connection though.

Our spirit was designed to naturally want to connect with God’s Holy Spirit, but there are some folks that confuse the human spirit with God’s Holy Spirit. These are not the same. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are accepting the gift of salvation through the work Jesus did on the cross. When we do this, God’s Holy Spirit joins ours, just like lego pieces snapping together.

The Holy Spirit is a deposit into our human spirit. Ephesians 1:13-14 says it guarantees salvation to all who believe.

It is by this grace from God that we are saved, not by works, so that no one can boast as stated in Eph 2:8. We aren’t magically perfect then. We live in a fallen world where our flesh (body) with all its senses sometimes has trouble staying on track.

The human spirit can very effectively squelch its moral conscience to point of apparent non-existence. Unfortunately, this is happening way too much these days.

Our Holy Spirit connection was created by our loving Father because He wants to have fellowship with us and has set up the whole plan so that we have a way to be with Him forever.
