How Can We Know That God Really Does Love Us?

We hear all the time that God really does love us, but does He really? How and why should we believe that? God has given himself to us, not because we are perfect, but because He wants to have a relationship with each one of us. He has chosen to love us.

Yeah, Yeah, But How Can You Know That God Really Loves You?

1. He created the world for us.

In the beginning, He created heaven and earth. He proceeded to create a great variety of things upon the earth including bodies of water, beaches, forests, mountains, varieties of plants and animals, etc. The Bible tells us that He didn’t just want to look on all that He made for himself, but that He wanted to share it with mankind. He created man so that we could have fellowship with Him and share in the beauty of all that He made.

2. He wanted to be with us.

From the beginning of time, even before actually, He wanted to be with us. Remember that verse in the Bible when Jesus prayed, “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world” John 17:24.

He did give us a free will, however, and the ability to think things through. He was not to force anyone to accept His gift. We kind of messed it up in the beginning, but we all can choose to accept His love and gift of salvation. We can chose whether we want to live our life for and with Him or not. But the truth still remains and doesn’t change that he wants to be with us.

3. He died for us.

In God’s word, God promises He will love us

unconditionally—and will never leave or forsake us. God really does love you

On our own, we cannot enter into God’s family. His word tells us that we all fall short of the glory of God. But He loves us so much that He still wanted to be with us. So Jesus came and showed us first hand the love He has for us. He then willingly gave His life to pay the penalty for our sin. His mission in coming to earth was to ensure the forgiveness of our sins and our eternity to spent with Him.

4. He cares for us.

The fact that He set this plan in motion from the beginning of time testifies to His love for us. But many times throughout God’s word, He reassures us that He is continually watching over us. We may not think so when troubles face us, but unfortunately this is part of the fall of man in the beginning. It doesn’t mean that He doesn’t love you. He tells us that there will be trouble in this world.

His love is apparent, however, as we trust Him and work through these challenges of life. We may not always understand this life, but one thing you can bank on is that He cares for you. He has a great plan for you. There will be a time when it will all make sense, even if it is not on this current earth. We just have to trust Him. I know that is not always easy, but a work in progress.

5.  His Promise

God is God and he doesn’t fluctuate in who He is or what He promises us. God promises He will love us unconditionally—and will never leave or forsake us.

He loves us even when maybe we don’t feel loveable. Hey, we all fall short of the Most High God and His holiness. But God knows our hearts. He knows our struggles, our strengths and weaknesses. He is willing to be with you through the Holy Spirit, help you, guide you and reassure you that He does, in fact, love you. And he promises this. If you can’t believe a promise from God, who can you then?

The most powerful follow up to the promises He gives us in the Bible is that He sent His Son to die for us, to take upon Him our sins, so that through the gift of salvation through Jesus, we could enjoy being a part of His family for all eternity.

It is just logical that God really does love us by looking at all that He has done from the beginning of time. It is apparent that He wants to have a relationship with each of us. It is our choice whether we want to accept the gift of salvation and want to have a relationship with Our Creator as well.

But why wouldn’t anyone want to be with the one who loves us to such a great degree to plan all of history to ultimately lead to sharing paradise with Him? I guess sometimes the thought of that is too overwhelming and can hardly be imagined. It is pretty awe-inspiring at times and difficult to wrap your mind around. What is even more awesome though is that even what we can imagine, God’s word tells us that it will be even greater than that.

Still Have Doubts That God Really Does Love Us?

If you doubt, read God’s word with the intent of focusing on how the Bible shows us proof that God really does love us.
