Ever Wonder What Heaven Is Really Like?
I think more people should wonder what heaven is really like. Maybe if they did, they would dig into the Bible a little more and not be misled. Unclear and often weird information has has circulated for years and years. I agree with Mr. Alcorn, that there is a huge misconception about what heaven is really like.
Until I started digging into the Bible with the main focus of understanding what God says about heaven, many of my ideas of what heaven is really like didn’t really fly with God’s word. There is still some mystery, probably always will be, but many things have become more clear. I think the rest should be left to our imagination because that leaves it open for God to WOW us with just how magnificent it really is.
The best book I have found on this subject, that helps you understand from a Biblical perspective, is Randy Alcorn’s Book, simply titled, Heaven. Heaven is something to look forward to, something not to fear, but to treasure as our forever home. It is a place where we will feel at home, be safe and relaxed.
It doesn’t mean you will just be sitting around with nothing to do. Many think heaven will be an idle place and you won’t have much to do. Even be boring. That somehow, everything will be unfamiliar. I don’t think the Bible says that at all. Heaven is a vibrant and active place.
God’s word also makes it clear that the New Heaven, which will descend onto earth, will be quite familiar to us. It will restore the earth. And it will truly be “heaven on earth.” At the creation of the world, it was beautiful and ultimately, it’s beauty will no longer be marred by the destruction that has befallen it. God made the Garden of Eden for us. A beautiful garden with no toiling of any kind. He made great and wonderful things on this earth, why would that be different in heaven? The vastness of creative and amazing things that were made for us on the present earth are mind boggling.
I believe heaven is a place you will like! A place of meaning and acceptance where you can live in peace with the Savior who has loved you and wants to share His home with you for eternity!
